About
My Background
As Company Director of the AWT Group, I owe many of my accomplishments to the passion for steel work passed down by my family. This began with my grandfather, who worked on the construction of Brisbane’s Story Bridge. My father, a blacksmith by trade, produced farming implements, water drilling rigs and bulldozers across Brisbane. It was only natural for me to inherit my family’s passion for steelwork.
In 1980, after working as both a boilermaker and welding supervisor, I took the plunge and established my own business. This ultimately led to my 15-year spell in Indonesia, managing the steel fabrication and construction projects of coal handling facilities. My clients included those in Indonesia, Peru, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Australia, and I have gained approximately 10 years’ experience as an oil and gas modular construction specialist.
The family tradition continues, with my sons working as engineers in the mining, oil, and gas industries both locally and abroad.
After working overseas for 25 years, I returned to Australia in late 2017, where the journey continues.
